We are excited to announce that our company (Gradle, Inc.) will now present itself commercially as Gradle Technologies, effective immediately. This strategic update includes a new corporate logo and visual identity system designed to better reflect our evolution from a single-tool steward to a multi-product enterprise partner.
This is a brand identity change—not a change in ownership, leadership, or what we deliver to customers. The team, products, and commitments remain the same.
Distinguishing the company from the build tool
The transition to Gradle Technologies addresses a long-standing need to distinguish the corporate entity from our most well-known product, the Gradle Build Tool. With nearly 800 million Gradle Build Tool downloads—and more than 2 billion plugin downloads—“Gradle” is most often associated with the build tool.
As our business and product portfolio have expanded, we want our company identity to more clearly reflect who we are: a product company and enterprise partner that builds and supports multiple offerings, including the award winning Develocity platform, while continuing to invest in and support the Gradle Build Tool and its ecosystem.
Our visual identity and strategy
This updated identity reflects the breadth of what we deliver for enterprises today. In the last year, we greatly expanded the Develocity platform—expanding on our original focus on build and test acceleration and troubleshooting—to include Develocity 360 (unified toolchain observability), Develocity Universal Cache (a build artifact CDN platform), Develocity Provenance Governor (continuous GRC platform for DevOps), Develocity MCP Server (enabling Agentic AI interaction for troubleshooting and performance optimization), and more. As part of our increased focus on software supply chain security, we will soon introduce a commercial Gradle Build Tool Enterprise Security subscription.
As part of the rebranding, Gradle Technologies is introducing a unified visual identity. The Gradle Build Tool will retain its iconic logo mark, the “Gradlephant,” preserving the strong lineage and brand equity established within the developer community over the years.
Operational continuity
While we will adopt Gradle Technologies for marketing, external-facing contexts, and customer interactions, there is no change to the legal corporate structure. The legal entity name remains Gradle, Inc., and will continue to be used for all contracts, vendor registrations, and financial processes.
Furthermore, the rebranding will not affect existing digital infrastructure. There are currently no plans to change the gradle.com domain, email addresses, or specific product URLs, ensuring a seamless experience for our customers and partners.
We hope that you will join us in celebrating our new brand identity, and if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact Oliver White, Head of Marketing, at owhite@gradle.com.
